Hello Brooklyn!

After I ventured over to Brooklyn this weekend, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite spots with you folks. I'll start with the Bedford Cheese Shop. How charming is this exterior? It gets even better inside.
Bedford Cheese Shop
229 Bedford Avenue

Norbu Bijoux
232A Bedford Ave. at N 4th Street

Absolutely died over some of the baubles in this store. I will definitely be back. Amazing (huge) cocktail rings, cuff bracelets and an amazing assortment of stones, big & small. Super affordable.

The Rabbithole Bakery
352 Bedford Ave.
We tried the eggs benedict on an herbed biscuit, spiced bacon and hollandaise, the french soft style omelette with salmon, capers & chive creme fraiche, roasted tomato, carmelized onion & goat cheese (!!) & the lamb burger with yogurt feta sauce, cucumber mint ribbon salad and fries-- all very tasty, and the interior is flawless.

Ella Cafe
177 Bedford Avenue
Former Gramercy Tavern chef Oleg Lyaaskoronskiy opened Ella Cafe, a chic little organic restaurant overlooking Bedford Ave. Everything I tried was so fresh and delicious, but I really loved the artichoke salad with hearts of palm. Yum!!

Miss Favela's
57 South 5th Street
I can't say enough about this spot.
Amazing cocktails (especially the Caiprinhas!!) + live music on Sunday afternoons = Perfect!

Make sure to stop by these spots next time you're in Williamsburg!

Polished.

After my last trip to Milk & Honey Spa in Austin, I became a loyal fan of Sparitual nail polish. I purchased a deep red-ish shade and have been wearing it non-stop. I have never gotten so many compliments on a nail color, so I felt obligated to share!

It is called "Kiss the Cook", from their "Earthy Low Note" Collection.
Get it at Milk & Honey or at www.sparitual.com.
This color is amazing, it lasts so long & doesn't chip easily.

I never try anything too wild on my nails. I usually want either nude, pale pink, deep purple, a dark red or a soft gray. These are my go-to colors, and they work with pretty much everything in my wardrobe.

Innatendu is the best nude out there. I have tried hundreds, and this is really the best. Glossy & chic. When I'm in the mood for something a little more fun & feminine, I always do Ballerina, which is the perfect super-soft pink. I'm not a huge fan of bubblegum shades & this is a sort of sophisticated version of OPI Bubblebath.
I'm almost starting to get sick of this shade, but I can't stop using it because it is just so versatile.

I like Vendetta for my toes. I've had it as a manicure but it was a little bit of a hassle (ie. I didn't feel comfortable wearing the coral blouse I had planned on wearing because all together it would be way too much!). This is an amazing pedicure color, & Lo Bosworth is a fan!

And lastly, I wanted to share my thoughts on the long lasting gel manicure.
I've tried it, of course, and it is amazing.
Mine stayed on for weeks, and it looked pretty flawless. Here is my only complaint-- the gel that they use on top of your natural nail does not allow your nail to breathe, and once the gel is removed (and say you are ready to get a regular manicure again...) you will find that your nails are brittle and not quite as healthy. Bottom line, if you want natural and healthy nails, avoid it. IF you are in a crunch and need your nails to be perfecto, go for it. Also ideal if you are taking a long vacation & can't be bothered with a mani.

Nothing is worse than dry hands!! I picked up the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment in Paris this winter, when my paws were super dry. I fell in love with it, and now I always keep a tube of it in my purse.
Get it at www.clarins.com.

Also, since I rely on this pretty simple polish wardrobe, I use Essie Matte from time to time. It creates a matte finish when applied over any color, which I love. Get it at www.essie.com

And lastly, this is the best top coat out there. I suggest investing in your favorite shades & top coat, and toting them with you to the nail place. Especially if you drop into a not so fancy nail place, which I frequently do!

COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET:

what you need to know to stay chic & organized!

Paris Hilton's closet

Whether you channel Mary Kate Olsen or Jackie O,
you've got to OWN your look.

My dear friend MSW always looks so put together and has graciously stepped in with some wonderful wardrobe advice!

MSW is always immaculately dressed, whether she is trying something a little trendier or sticking to something more classic.

Here are her suggestions-- what you need to know to look habitually chic & stay organized.

"Organize everything by category, but not in such a detailed way that you can't keep track and things become discombobulated.

I have a dresser with a drawer for underwear, one for bras and socks, one full of PJs/sleepwear, one of basic tops (one stack of polos, one stack of v-necks, one stack of crew necks), and a bottom drawer of t-shirts, yoga pants, and running shorts.  I have another dresser that is full of sweaters-organized by crewneck, turtleneck, cableknit, and miscellaneous.  I have another shelf situation that is quite unsightly where I have seasonal items like bathingsuits and sweatpants and Patagonia fleeces, as well as long sleeved t-shirts.

Celerie Kemble, Lonny

In my closet I just have a few "sections": skirts, dresses, pants, and tops. When it comes to outfit planning, I don't like to repeat anything two days in a row-I was so crazy in college that I would wear my cableknit items on Tuesday and Thursday and mix it up on other days.  I have such a cableknit collection that I was able to wear a different cableknit top every single Tues/Thursday throughout the semester.  A true freak.  But it creates a pattern of rotating your wardrobe into the mix-don't be the type of person to wear jeans every day, try wearing a dress on Fridays or skirts two days a week! I'm not very matchy-matchy, I like to mix colors, patterns, and textures.

Some of my favorite outfits would be a pattern on bottom and a solid on top (in the spring I wear a madras mini with a hot pink Lacoste, or a rich autumnal patterned skirt with a navy cardigan for that back-to school feel!), or on the other hand a bright unusual top with a demure pencil skirt.  When it comes to accessories, I'm pretty boring-I stick to the basics, or if I want to try a trend, I scour Forever 21 or Target!" --MSW
